Miss. Independent

Emma has made fast friends with the dogs. Very odd timing since we had decided we were going to try to rehome them - for various reasons. Well, since Emma has taken to them and suddenly they are besties they have a reprieve for now. I think the dogs know what they are doing - they probably knew they were on the metaphorical (yes, PETA...metaphorical) chopping block and decided they better take an interest in the little Truongster quick! Suddenly, Max is bringing his ball for Emma to throw (which she does and laughs the loudest laugh each time). Maddie is so gracious when Emma tries to feed her little kibbles from their dog bowl. A couple of weeks ago, these dogs barely knew Emma existed. Now, they are three peas in a pod. Slick Ricks.

Emma continues to be fascinated by books. She uses her rider to read books. I told my parents, who purchased this for Christmas, it was her adult equivalent of the bathroom for reading. She takes all her books and reads them on the bike.
We can ask her to "Go get a book" and she will bring us a book to read her. Of course, she listens to a page and brings another page to read. Or, brings us two books and insists they be read together.
We have no shame. We have hid some books that she was requesting be read over and over again. Someone, who will go unnamed, gave us "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - the book where the baby can push certain buttons to hear audio clips. Well, as sweet as that story is....around the 1,345,332,999th time you have read/heard that book, it isn't so sweet anymore. In fact, it is down right annoying. It has been hid. And it is going to be returned the person who purchased the book so when Emma visits he/she can enjoy the love of Charlie :)

The last couple of days Emma has decided she wants to feed herself...much to my dismay. Didn't she just turn one? Why is she insisting on acting like she is grown!?!? It is really cute to watch her feed herself. She doesn't quite hold the spoon at the right angle, so, it is hit or miss on whether the food makes it to her mouth or not!

Here is her little trick. If she doesn't quite make her mouth, she uses her hands to guide the spoon. :)
