Week 16

This past Friday I had another prenatal visit. Everything was great! The baby's heartbeat was a little over 140. I am also measuring right on time. Everyone has had me so scared I was having TWINS. At the last visit the nurse told me I would find out how many I was having at my 20 week ultrasound. I asked the doctor if having twins was possible. He looked at me with the most "That's a dumb question look" and replied: "Did you have an ultrasound?" To which I replied "Yes at 5 weeks." To which he replied "Well, you can't grow what's not there!"
The date is set! July 24th we will (hopefully!!) find out if we are having a boy or a girl. I can't wait! This week we are 16 weeks along! Just FOUR weeks away from HALF WAY! Week 16 marks important milestones for the baby: muscles are gaining strength and Nutter Butter can even stretch out! N.B.'s eyes are even moving side to side now and can perceive light. A great development this week is the baby's hearing. N.B. likely can hear as he/she has developed bones in his/her ears. What an unlikely time to start hearing...when I've been listening to Michael Jackson's music constantly :)
I found this cartoon (below). It perfectly sums up my thoughts on weight gain! Seriously, you go on the scale...see the dreaded numbers...then end up eating ten minutes later because you have hunger pains like never before.
