Week 19: The BIG week

Well, not exactly the biggest week to come (I reserve that for the week the baby arrives!). However, it is a substantial week in the baby process - hopefully, we will find out the gender. Our appointment is Friday at 8:30am! I've learned to get appointments bright and early when the doctors and nurses are free of distraction (such as lunch!). So, will it be pink or blue? We'll see :)

This week the baby continues to grow...and so do I! The baby is about 6 inches (the size of an heirloom tomato!). Nutterbutter weighs just around 8 1/2 ounces. Though, I've read in some places the baby could be closer to 1lb. Between now and delivery the baby will increase his/her size by 15 times! Sensory development is well underway. The baby is developing specialized places in the brain for vision, smell, taste, hearing, and touch.

I felt the first noticeable baby flutters this week! It was so exciting. I've felt things before but haven't been sure which is baby and which is my stomach craziness. However, this "flutter" is like nothing else! I actually first noticed what I was feeling during a team study planning study. I guess the baby loves research :)
