A mother's joy begins when new life is stirring inside
When a tiny heartbeat is heard for the first time
and a playful kick reminds her she is never alone.

Hearing Emma's heartbeat for the first time was one of the craziest things ever. Something that seemed so abstract now seemed so real and concrete. I realized I had this life forming inside me. Then, when I felt the first kick the fact I was having a baby was cemented. It's truly a unique thing to feel your baby kick. Especially, when you read about how the baby can react to sounds and light now.
But nothing is like SEEING the baby kick. Up until now, the reality of Emma was in sound and touch. I could hear her heartbeat and feel her kicks. However, this weekend the "There is really a person in me" factor was kicked up a notch. I ate some candy corn (well...and Mary Janes and Smarties) on Monday. I guess that was a lot of sugar for Emma. Because she cranked it up big time! I was sitting on the couch and noticed she was kicking a lot. Well, I lifted up my shirt to see my stomach and you could literally see her kicking. Now, I've seen my belly jump before but this was different. She might have been throwing some elbows!! At one point I guess she moved because it was like a huge wave went over my stomach. It was the coolest, craziest and weirdest thing ever! There is nothing like it. Luckily, Hai got to see it when she did it again. I think he was freaked out a little. Obviously, little Emma is packing on the pounds :)
I did feel bad because I had ate all that sugar. So I am making a honest attempt to calm down on the sugar. However, it is really cool knowing she is making her presence known. She wants everyone to know she is on her way :)
