Week 34 has arrived! Only 6-ish more weeks to go! In some respects, this pregnancy has gone really fast. I can remember it being April and just discovering I was pregnant. But then again, the last couple of months have seemed to take FOREVER. If you think Christmas was slow coming as a kid - try waiting on a baby for 9 months!
We had our check-up this week. Emma's heartrate was in the 150's. The last appointment her heartrate was in the 160's. It sounded soooo fast! I've been having a lot of swelling. And I'm not being dramatic like some pregnant women are either. My face, hands, and especially feet are swelling. Sometimes, I feel like if I were to prick myself I would turn into one of those water fountains. The swelling makes it difficult to walk around a lot - especially late of the evening. But really, there isn't much use in complaining - unless I just want to complain because there isn't a thing that can be done about swelling. It is just one of those crazy things that happens when you are pregnant.
The doctor I saw was great. I saw him before and didn't really like him but this time I thought he was excellent. He was very caring and thoughtful. He took some time to look at my bite wound - especially because that is the foot that seems to be swelling the most. He said he wasn't too concerned - because I had swelling elsewhere. He did recommend the H1N1 vaccine but I'm not sure about getting it. If I weren't getting the rabies vaccines and injecting all that stuff into my body, I wouldn't hesitate. But I'm slightly worried about bombarding my body with all these chemicals.
The doctor did note to go ahead and get whatever we need to get done in the next week or so. He said you really don't have any idea of your energy level in the last couple of weeks. Luckily, we have gotten a lot done already. We have just a few more minor things to do - get bassinet sheets, pack n play sheets, etc. Our last childbirth class is Tuesday; then, next Thursday we have our lacation class. I can't wait to see Hai T. during the lacation class :)
Update on Emma as we approach 34 weeks:
- She weighs around 5-ish lbs - and it feels like it!
- Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever.
- Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well.
She is still moving around a lot! I have heard around this time the movements are harder to detect - however, Emma is still going strong. Most of the times, I have tons of pressure in my pelvic area and then a swift kick to the ribs. She seems to react to music a lot. She moved nearly the entire time of the MJ movie - maybe she's a fan!?!
