Week THIRTY-EIGHT!

It's just a waiting game...Some of us wait more patiently than others (ahum...Maddie)

37 week-ish belly. It's large...and in charge of the game.

Excited. Nervous. Anticipating. Tired. Over joyed. Scared. Ready. Impatient.

That all describes my uterus and me as we are waiting for eviction day. Only a very small percentage of babies are actually born on their due date. I want Emma to come when she is ready. Selfishly, I want Emma to be ready now. I'm tired. Breathing is difficult. My hips feel like those of an 80 year old. And I am tired of going to the bathroom multiple times an hour. But, I've mangaged it for 38 weeks...I can manage it for a couple more.

Emma at 38 weeks:

  • Likely weighs close to 7lbs and is around 20 inches.
  • Fetal development is nearly complete. She is taking care of shedding the skin covering vernix and lanugo (that cottage cheese looking stuff)
  • Organs are ready for life in the real world :)
  • Her grasp is solid!
